It is no secret that we live in a culture that encourages people-pleasing, self-sacrifice, and conforming to the will of outer authority.
Those socialized as women are conditioned to be softer, polite, and nice. Those socialized as men are conditioned to be strong, never to show weakness, and to hide their softer emotions. And almost everyone is conditioned to prove their worth and earn their lovability.
In the face of all that, it is courageous to stand in your Truth and align with your higher purpose.
The good news is that the tides are shifting. We are moving into a time when individual empowerment is more valued than tribal rules and structure.
The even better news is that Human Design is the most precise and practical map for letting go of conditioning and aligning with your higher purpose.
(I’ll decode yours in the Human Design Map.)
It points the way to your definition of satisfaction, success, peace, and delight; the ripple effects will touch every area of your life.
Here are some Practical Ways that Human Design will change your life…
# 1. It shows you the Divine Gifts you are here to experience and share with the world…just by being yourself.
One of the most common things I hear from people is that learning their Human Design made them feel seen, understood, and valued. It dispels the lie that you don’t know who you are and affirms what you’ve hidden under your (very human) need to belong.
As you use each shape, number, color, and symbol to rediscover yourself, you stop pretending that you weren’t made for magick. In black, white, and red, you see the things that make you unique and the gifts that only you can deliver to the world.
Imagine no longer questioning what makes you unique, how to make your dreams a reality, and why your soul chose to incarnate at this time.
#2. You will have more compassion, acceptance, and forgiveness for others.
As you deepen your Human Design journey, you will automatically begin cultivating self-love and compassion. You will begin to embrace even your messiest parts and embody unshakeable authenticity.
In that softening and surrender,
You will forgive yourself for past “mistakes” and stop judging yourself harshly. You will yield to Unconditional Love and Fierce Grace.
You will feel at home in your body, heart, and mind.
Your heart will overflow with the emotions of the higher heart (G Center) and overflow into the lives of others.
What a world that will be.
# 3: You’ll stop being such as asshole to yourself.
Have you ever woken up in the middle of the night worried about what you said or did? Or worried that you were just too much of one thing and not enough of another? Or spent hours beating yourself up after a challenging conversation with a loved one?
You are human. Of course, you have.
Walking the path of Human Design will change that. I can’t make any promises about how long it will take; as all deconditioning does, it might be messy sometimes.
But, as you take action from your inner wisdom instead of your conditioning, you will feel a “rightness” with how you show up in the world.
And the voice of your higher self will begin to take center stage. You will be on your own side and relish the opportunity to love even your messiest parts.
# 4: You will know what you need to thrive.
One of the problems many people need help with is understanding their needs and how to meet those needs healthily. This is especially true for Gen X’ers and older, but it really depends on the environment you were raised in.
If you were raised to believe that having needs is selfish or weren’t taught how to go within to understand yourself, there is no reason you would know what you need or how to meet those needs. You were never taught.
Ra Uru Hu, the founder of Human Design (and with whom I have mixed feelings), was notorious for saying that Human Design was for children.
His vision was for a world where parents would use Human Design to inform how they relate to their children and raise them to be true to themselves.
And understanding Human Design gives us a set of tools to make that vision a reality. It reveals the things we need and gives us a clear map for discovering how to meet those needs.
And, when you combine that understanding with the deconditioning system I developed and teach inside the Human Design Map, it becomes a way for you to go first.
You cannot give what you do not have, and it is up to us to do things differently for our children, whether we are a parent or not.
# 5: You will have more energy.
One of the most significant benefits of Human Design has been getting my energy back.
As a non-sacral being, I have often struggled to keep up in a Generator world (and, honestly, no one is equipped to keep up with the way we are expected to). And I used to think that I just had “no” energy.
But the Truth is that I was trying to force myself to express my energy in ways that weren’t aligned with my higher purpose.
I have a defined head, ajna, throat, G, and Spleen.
My energy is best used in deep thought, moving with intuition, and leading from the higher heart (G Center). With that energy, I can easily guide others and empower the collective with what I see.
And when I prioritize using my energy in that way, it is clear that I have plenty of energy to do the things that come naturally to me.
Yes, you will find me resting more than many, and I must be super mindful of my spoons after years of “not-self” living.
But I no longer believe I’m supposed to keep up with everyone else.
And no matter your definition, the same thing will happen to you once you begin awakening to your higher purpose through Human Design. You will stop wasting so much energy doing things aligned with your lowest potential and reclaim the energy that was always yours.
# 6: You will cultivate healthier relationships based on true belonging.
One of the greatest misconceptions of our time is the difference between fitting in and belonging. Belonging is one of our universal needs. We are wired to crave the love and acceptance of our tribes; it’s a survival instinct. However, that need for belonging gets distorted when our tribe expects us to be different from what we are. To protect ourselves, we change who we are to fit in.
And what most people need to realize is that fitting in isn’t the same thing as belonging. Fitting in is actually a shitty substitute for belonging.
And while it can be a tough pill to swallow, the Truth is that when we twist ourselves into someone we are not, our need for belonging is still unmet.
When you people please, the other person doesn’t even get the chance to love and accept you; they only get to love the person you pretend to be. And that will always fall short of the satisfaction, success, peace, and delight we crave.
Human Design gives us a clear map of our highest purpose in relationships (in everything!) and reveals what it even means to show up authentically in those relationships.
(There is a guide for decoding relationship charts inside the Human Design Map portal.)
You will feel more confident in yourself and develop the capacity for more authenticity in your relationships.
So, when all’s said and done, Human Design has many practical benefits; the things I’ve listed here are only scratching the surface. And it can be simple, clear, and totally doable to get started.
Start with one tiny thing, and then another, and then another.
It will add up. It can only be that way.
The benefits are worth it.
