You’re feeling great—validated, productive, maybe even proud of yourself. But later, the feeling fades. What happened? You thought you were in flow, and on the “right” track, but all of a sudden, you feel worse than ever.
Well, first, life isn’t always going to feel good. It’s normal to experience a full range of human emotions.
But, when it comes to living in a state of purpose and flow, it’s important to remember that feelings are fleeting. Feelings are meant to come and go (no matter your solar plexus definition!)
And, more importantly, positive feelings alone aren’t an indicator of alignment. They can actually be a sign of misalignment!
Yes, feelings like excitement, validation, or accomplishment feel good in the moment. But when they come from conditioning, attachment, or pressure, they’re more like sugar highs. They fade – fast – leaving you drained, confused, and doubting yourself. They are more like a false positive than a true testament to anything.
Don’t get me wrong. When you make the choice to live authentically and on purpose, you’ll experience your fair share of good vibes. But you won’t be dependant on them for validation that you’re doing life right. Instead, you’ll be more deeply rooted, with a sense of autonomy and sovereignty that isn’t shaken every time the wind blows.
When it comes to our undefined centers, if our energy boundaries are out of balance, we can be living from our not self – carrying energy that isn’t ours to carry – and believing the false positives have deeper meaning than they do.
On the surface, it might have a semblance of alignment and flow. But, at the roots, what we find is conditioning and an attached self concept.
Here’s how that could be playing out in your undefined Human Design Centers…
True Flow Versus False Positives by Undefined Human Design Centers
True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined Head Center
False Positive: “Getting inspired” feels like you’re doing something that matters.
Why It Feels Good: Because inspiration has a lovely way of glossing over feelings of overwhelm, doubt, and confusion.
Why It’s Not Flow: Chasing inspiration leaves you feeling drained or like you are living in a constant state of problem solving mode.
True Flow: Inspiration comes and goes naturally. You no longer need to feel inspired or motivated in order to take aligned action. You let the mystery of life unfold.
Reflection: What wisdom does my doubt, overwhelm, and confusion have to offer me? What do they have to say when I don’t try to cover them up with inspiration?

False Positive: Having a strong opinion or an intellectual understanding gives you a sense of certainty.
Why It Feels Good: Because certainty seems like the antidote to dread, insecurity, and powerlessness.
Why It’s Not Flow: Clinging to certainty actually blocks the possibilities that are innate to remaining flexible. Rigidity is the biggest barrier to flow.
True Flow: You’re open to exploring all sides of any given issues without needing certainty or the be right. Your flexibility makes room for limitless possibilities to emerge.
Reflection: In what ways is my need for certainty creating more dread, insecurity, and powerlessness? What happens when I make room for the possibilities of uncertainty to emerge?

True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined Throat Center
False Positive: Filling empty space with words feels like your voice matters.
Why It Feels Good: Believing that your voice is being heard crowds out the discomfort of silence, or feeling that you don’t matter.
Why It’s Not Flow: It drowns out your true voice for meaningless chatter.
True Flow: Being a master at saying what needs to be said, to the right people at the right time.
Reflection: What does the discomfort of silence show me where my true voice packs a punch?

True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined G Center
False Positive: Becoming part of a new group – one that creates a sense of mission – feels like finally fitting in.
Why It Feels Good: All humans have a deep need to belong.
Why It’s Not Flow: The mission isn’t truly yours and fitting in is a shitty substitute for true belonging.
True Flow: Trusting your fluid sense of direction and trusting that you always belong.
Reflection: Do I know in my bones that I belong? Or am I settling for fitting in for the sake of it?

True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined Will Center
False Positive: Virtue signaling creates a sense of self importance and superiority.
Why It Feels Good: It feeds the ego with the illusion of separateness and worthiness.
Why It’s Not Flow: Deep down, there’s a sense of overcompensation or even fraudulence, leaving you feeling hollow and even more worthless.
True Flow: Radical discernment about the things that are about you — and the things that aren’t.
Reflection: Am I making this mean something about my goodness, worthiness, or value? What would I be doing right now if I trusted that those things are illusions of the ego?

True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined Sacral Center
False Positive: Being busy, productive, and caring seems like the best use of your energy.
Why It Feels Good: Using your energy on something is better than feeling like you wasting your potential.
Why It’s Not Flow: You have no energy left to share the true power of your aura.
True Flow: You are discerning about what is sustainable for you and what isn’t. You know the true purpose of your aura and take aligned action to honor it. (The Manifestor Aura, The Projector Aura, The Reflector Aura)
Reflection: Where did I get the idea that if I’m not always busy, I am wasting my potential? What would I be doing right now if I stopped believing that lie?

True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined Solar Plexus Center
False Positive: Not confronting the truth can feel like peace in the moment.
Why It Feels Good: Conflict – whether internal or external – sucks. And avoiding it just plain seems easier. Especially when you aren’t sure what you are really feeling in the first place.
Why It’s Not Flow: Suppressing emotions disconnects you from your truth and builds barriers to intimacy with yourself and others.
True Flow: You observe emotional energy without attachment. You are patient enough with yourself – and others – to get to the core of whatever is happening. And confront it with clarity and grace.
Reflection: Where am I unsure of my own feelings about things? What am I afraid will happen if I face this head one? What if I trusted that I can handle it?

True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined Spleen Center
False Positive: Staying in unhealthy situations – instead of facing the unknown – can seem like the safest thing to do.
Why It Feels Good: Even if you are in a shitty situation, you at least know what you are dealing with. And that creates a sense of control or safety.
Why It’s Not Flow: It reinforces the fear that the unknown is always worse. And it keeps you stuck in situations that will never allow you to truly thrive.
True Flow: Leaving situations that you know are not healthy for you. And trusting that you will have your own back no matter what happens.
Reflection: If I chose my well-being over a false sense of safety, what would I do right now?

True Flow Versus False Positives for the Undefined Root Center
False Positive: Rushing or taking action seems like the way to work through stress.
Why It Feels Good: Pressure to grow and take action can feel very uncomfortable in the body and moving fast can temporarily expel the pressure.
Why It’s Not Flow: It’s reactive and rooted in the pressure to escape stress, not aligned action.
True Flow: Letting go of pressure that does not serve you and using it to your advantage when it does.
Reflection: Am I rushing to relieve pressure or stress, or moving with aligned intention? What other ways could I let this pressure go?

True flow isn’t about feeling good —it’s about how your energy moves. And whether that movement is in alignment with your higher purpose. When you honor your undefined centers and let go of conditioning, you open the door to true flow. It’s better than you think—and knowing + experimenting with your design will help you get there.
