How to make decisions from your Human Design Authority when you have multiple choices

One of the places humans get stuck in decision-making is when we have multiple things to choose from.

For example, deciding between three or four different vacation spots, a few different homes to buy, or a couple of different job offers. It can even happen with smaller decisions like what to eat, wear, and do on the weekend.

And what I’ve seen in the land of Human Design is that choices like this seem to complicate the process of surrendering to our inner authority.

So, today, we are going to break this down and look at how to make decisions from your inner authority when you have multiple choices.

Let’s start by exploring WHY multiple choices can create so much confusion and inertia.

We are faced with decisions to make almost every moment of every day. It might not look like it consciously, but every move you make is a decision.

As the day goes on, the ability to make “aligned” decisions can become harder and harder. This phenomenon is often called decision fatigue.

A simple example of what happens with decision fatigue is when it comes to our vices (eating, drinking, shopping, scrolling, etc.).

In the morning, you might set an intention to “be good” and by the end of the day, we wouldn’t be able to rip the Ben and Jerry’s out of your cold (ha!) dead hands. Ask me how I know. 😉

You can think of your capacity to make decisions as the charge on your phone. You start the day off with a certain amount and once you’ve used it up, it’s done.

Adding multiple choices to a decision is like streaming a 4-hour movie vs scrolling IG for a few minutes every few hours.

Multiple choices drain that battery even faster than simple yes or no decisions.

Not only does it just require more energy, in general, but it can also bring down our energetic frequency with comparison and rivalry.

And when our vibration is in the “negative” frequency, we start complaining about how hard it is to make decisions.

Then, when we throw paying attention to our inner authority vs letting our misaligned beliefs make decisions for us, that is a whole other layer. That is when we get into complete decision avoidance.

And here is the deal:

The easier we can make decisions in our lives, the more satisfaction, success, peace, and delight we will create. That ease will be determined by the frequency you are making decisions from.

When we make our decisions from a place of abundance, trust, and delight in all of the amazing things life has to offer us, we get one result.

When we make our decisions from comparison, shitty beliefs, shoulds, and pressure to make the “right” choice, we get a totally different result.

It is literally just energy math.

So, let’s strip away the things that make decision-making hard.

#1. Let go of the thought that there is a “right” decision.

I wrote a whole post about that here. But, in short, there are no OBJECTIVELY “right” decisions. “Right” is subjective.

Even if you “make a terrible choice” and shit goes south, you can still alchemize those decisions into deeper levels of self-trust, forgiveness, grace, and unconditional love. No harm no foul.

This is true EVEN IF you “go against” your HD authority.

#2. Understand how your Human Design Authority works.

I go into deep detail about each one in the Human Design Map.

But, here is the essence of each one:

Lunar Authority = Exploring a decision through a full lunar cycle.

Mental + Self Projected Projectors = honoring the truth that reveals itself while sound boarding.

Splenic authority = trusting the intuitive instincts of your body, especially your NO.

Ego authority = doing what your higher heart is all in on.

Emotional Authority = riding the full emotional wave towards clarity instead of deciding during an emotional high or low

Sacral = choosing your uh-huh (yes)

#3. Look at each choice separately.

Like I said before, having multiple options to choose from is a problem in a number of ways. It can “bring down” the frequency that we are making the decision from and create a lot of fatigue.

But, even more importantly, from a purely HD perspective, the inner authority of our body isn’t designed to choose from multiple things at once.

This is especially true for Generators (aka most of the population). But it is important for all types and authorities.

Our body needs to be with a decision to understand it; it can’t do that very well if we are trying to focus on multiple things simultaneously.

So, consider ONE thing at a time instead of pitting choices against one another. Take ALL the other options off the table.

See if your body, via your authority, is saying YES or NO (and in the case of the spleen, the “not a no for now” or the “proceed for now”) to that ONE choice.

Weed out your no’s, take them off the table.

From there, you can go with whichever decision with your body likes the most.

#4. TRUST YOURSELF.

Refer back to point #1 whenever necessary. 😉
