Are you feeling stuck and like you just can’t move forward? I’ve got you.
And the first thing you need to know is that it is completely natural and normal for humans to “feel stuck” sometimes.
Despite what hustle culture has taught you, we are not meant to be in a state of perpetual action and growth. We are meant to ebb and flow, rest and play, and move at the pace of our natural rhythms. We were not designed to go, go, go.
In other words, sometimes, what we call “stuck” is actually just the natural ebb of life coupled with the conditioned belief that we should take action and pursue more growth.
In those cases, as Human Design Gate 52 shows us so beautifully, it is actually time to be still and wait. And, of course,
Other times, though, we really are stuck. Divine Timing and our inner wisdom, rather than our conditioned mind, are telling us to move, and, for some reason, we just can’t.
In this article, I will help you discern between the two types of “stuckness,” teach you the Human Design mechanics of stuckness, and give you the most potent tool for creating the miracle of forward momentum for those times when it’s your inner wisdom is telling you to get moving.
With that, let’s jump in.
How To Tell If You Are Actually Stuck (Or Just Buying Into Hustle Culture)
Let’s face it: we live in an era where it is easier to be conditioned than authentic.
There is social media, the news, and well-meaning family and friends—all with their conflicting ideas, judgmental opinions, and fake news. We also have shelves full of books, hard drives full of courses, and smartphones with anything you could ever want to know at the touch of a button. And, of course, let’s not forget the education system that is designed to turn us all into productivity machines.
To make matters worse, so much of the information we consume daily implicitly or explicitly tells us that we are not good enough. You don’t have to scroll very far on IG or TikTok to be told that you should be doing more, growing more, becoming better, faster, richer, thinner, doing more of this and less of that. Images are photoshopped, results are not typical, and the bar is consistently raised to higher and higher standards.
All of that external noise—whether you are aware of it or not—is conditioning you to be an inauthentic people-pleaser. And it is often the conditioning telling you that you are stuck, not your authentic inner wisdom.
If you want to be more authentic, overcome people-pleasing, and live on purpose, you must go out of your way to experience your pure aura and hear the truth of your inner wisdom. Which, by the way, is why Human Design is so essential — right now. It gives you a map back to your energetic essence so that you can detach from the outer noise, get out of your own way, and be purposefully bold in your lives.
In this post, I’m going to help you discern when “feeling stuck” comes from
And when I say simple, I mean super simple.
Are you ready for it?
I teach a whole lesson on this in my course, The Art of Remembering, which is included when you get your Human Design Map.
But the easiest way to shift your energy and create more synchronicity is to ask for it.
🤯🤯🤯
I said simple, but simple isn’t always easy.
Culturally speaking, we are taught to be ruggedly independent and to not ask for anything from anyone.
And if you were raised in a toxic religious culture, you may have even been conditioned to believe that you should never pray for yourself. The people around you may have said that it is selfish to focus your prayers on yourself and that you shouldn’t “burden God” with your little ole problems.
But, that’s all bullshit. And quite frankly, a grossly misinformed understanding of what “asking” actually does in our energy field.
The Mechanics and Neuroscience of Asking (aka prayer)
In the Human Design chart, the head center is known as a pressure center. What you may not know, though, is that the pressure is created by questions.
When you ask (or are asked) a question, the head pressures the ajna to answer it. I won’t get too far into the weeds on that.
You can dive deeper into the Human Design centers inside the Human Design Map portal; you’ll find a detailed 100+ page guide on each center. By illuminating how each center expresses when it is defined, undefined, regulated, and misregulated, you’ll understand the big picture of when you are acting from conditioning rather than authenticity.
Already a map client? Head to your dashboard, find {HD Map} Portal, and it’s in the module called Exclusive Human Design Content. There is a login link at the bottom of this email.
In the meantime, it can be helpful to understand that what Human Design shows us about the flow between the head and ajna links up with what neuroscience shows us, too.
The Reticular Activating System & Questions
Our brains only have so much capacity to process information.
In order to avoid complete sensory overload and nervous system breakdown, the neurotypical brain filters out most of what is happening around us. Things like autism, ADHD, and even migraines are linked to the brain processing more information than is considered “typical.”
One of the things that happens is that instead of taking in everything, the brain takes in information based on our focus. This focusing and filtering happens in the Reticular Activating System (RAS).
You can think of the RAS as the part of the brain that decides which things to see and which things to filter out. It is like a door that opens or closes, based on whatever is on your mind.
Questions are a way we filter and focus.
For example, when you are asking really shitty questions like:
Why is this happening to me?
What is wrong with me?
How will I ever figure this out?
Your brain is going to seek answers to those questions. You are going to start seeing every mistake you ever made, every flaw anyone ever pointed out, and the pile of failures from your past.
But, that isn’t because any of those things actually matter in what you are creating now. It is coming up because of the questions themselves and you have the power to ask a different question.
Asking better questions is part of your free will.
The RAS is Your Super Power
The RAS is simply a spectrum of potential that we can direct.
And like I mentioned in the head center section of the Nine Centers Guide (inside the map portal), one of the key things for a misregulated head center is seeking answers to questions that don’t matter or lead you where you want to go.
Better questions lead to better answers; Asking better questions is one of the most magickal ways to harness the power of the RAS.
The key is remembering to do it.
We forget and remember
And we forget again
But this life is a circle
Its coming back again
Its coming back again
Trevor Hall, Kala, Bowl of Light
When we pray (aka ask for help from the energy of all that is), our brains get to work on finding the answers and seeing what we want to see.
Forgetting and Remembering are simply matters of the consciousness of our focus.
And, remember, you aren’t supposed to always remember. You are supposed to forget and remember. You are supposed to experience the stark contrast of what it means to be human under the illusion of separateness. Otherwise, you wouldn’t have incarnated.
It’s how this game of Divine hide and seek works.
You cannot stop forgetting.
But just as I teach in The Art of Remembering, (an exclusive course inside the Human Design Map portal), what you can do is remember to remember.
You do that by being present with where you are and allowing it to reveal the next steps.
So, when you are looking around your life and all you see is a shit show and are asking yourself questions like:
Why is this happening to me?
What is wrong with me?
How will I ever figure this out?
Remember that it is all grist for the mill and it is time to remember.
Slow down, take a breath or ten, and be a loving presence for yourself.
When you are ready, ask a better question.
