The official name for Human Design Gate 11 is The Gate of Ideas. But I call it The Idea Factory. It’s in the sign of Sagittarius.
Sagittarius is a fire sign. It’s a sign of aspiration, optimism, and new adventures. It’s about aiming for a brighter future.
In the Human Design chart, Gate 11 is a gate in the Ajna center and it connects to the Throat center via gate 56.
The Energy Spectrum of Human Design Gate 11
The core theme of Human Design Gate 11 is fear of darkness.
It is the energy for transforming higher possibilities into concepts and ideas for inner contemplation. It has a rich and rewarding imagination and can think for days.
When Gate 11 is manifesting in your life unconsciously (aka the shadow), it has an over-active imagination that creates anxiety and fear.
Depending on whether you internalize or externalize the shadow of Gate 11, it can look like only seeing what you want to see and hiding behind your beliefs or picking fights or pushing people’s buttons.
In the shadow frequency, it often feels anxious, fearful, and burnt out.
But, as with all shadows, there is always a gift. Our inner work is to bring the shadow into the light of consciousness and embrace the full spectrum of its potential.
In doing so, we are able to step into worthiness of the gifts of gate 11. Thoughts, Beliefs, Ideas, and Concepts are not the same thing as Truth and, in many cases, can blind us from seeing Truth.
The gift (aka the conscious side) of Gate 11 is the awareness that thoughts, beliefs, ideas, and concepts are not the same thing as truth and in many cases, can blind us from seeing truth. It’s knowing ideas are only empowering when shared at the right time. And it’s the willingness to use the imagination as a fun place to play.
How to Choose Worthiness of the Gifts of Gate 11
I don’t have gate 11 in my chart but I have a lot of energetic connections with it. Pun completely intended.
First, gate 11 is the ajna side of the 11-56 channel of curiosity; I do have the 56 defined, which is the throat side of that channel. This creates a natural attraction for me to folx who have the 11 (and vice versa).
As such, I have many, many clients, friends, and family members who have gate 11. In fact, I have multiple private clients with the 11 in their incarnation cross (aka their soul’s purpose).
But, probably more important than any of that, I have a defined head and ajna and have often found myself in the shadows, wrestling with the concept of Truth — especially spiritual Truth. I’ve sought “the Truth” for as long as I can remember.
The thing that brings me the most peace is in recognizing that Truth is subjective. Spiritually speaking, no one actually knows for sure how we got here, why we came, and what happens when we die.
The only thing we really have is inner wisdom and resonance.
And, our work is really in recognizing that trusting our inner wisdom and believing in what resonates is a choice we each get to make. Or we can make the choice to believe whatever we’ve been taught to believe.
It’s all choice. Our thoughts, beliefs, ideas, opinions, and yes, even our Truth, is 100% optional. They are malleable. And none of them are set in stone.
When we are caught up in our stories (gate 56), especially the “negative” ones, it completely clouds our ability to make peace with other people having a different Truth. And this can completely destroy our relationships.
I used to believe that in order to “get along” with people, we had to think and believe the same things. I thought that belonging was dependent on shared beliefs and values. And that if we disagreed, then it was a recipe for trouble in the relationship.
What I’ve come to understand is that it isn’t the differences that are the problem. It is the attachment to “Truth” that is the real troublemaker.
When we are attached to something, we are depending on it to create our feelings and emotions. And when that thing isn’t there, we spiral into hopelessness, despair, fear, and shame.
So, when we need other people to agree with us, it’s because we are dependent on that agreement to feel safe, secure, whole, or worthy.
But, as I’m sure you understand by now, that is the real recipe for trouble. If our feelings are dependent on how other people think, feel, and align with us, we are truly up shit’s creek. It is a 100% faulty foundation to build upon.
Growth and expansion cannot be built on that foundation. It will fall.
Our best source of hope is to build our foundation on our inner wisdom (aka inner authority) and our resonance, and, most importantly, non-attachment to how our Truth lands with others and to make peace with not ever really knowing.
Spillin’ out like water
Like a mountain gave a daughter
Surrender never felt so good
I grew it strong like a sacred wood
And now the roots are running deeper
All illusion getting weaker
You see, the wisdom it don’t come from reading
It comes from believing
What I know, is that I don’t know
And now I dance and I sing and I live full
I give it all to the call of the unknown
The work is in exploring the attachments and in letting them go, piece by piece, and building a foundation of belief and faith simply because you trust yourself.
In that, the mind becomes a fun little playground of curiosity, fascination, and interest rather than a boulder weighing you down.
Your Personal Contemplation of Human Design Gate 11
When you stand in the Truth that you are worthy of your Truth even if no one agrees…
Right now, in this moment, what is your Truth?
When you think about the possibility of your Truth being wrong, what feelings come up for you?
In what ways do you need others to agree with you?
In what ways are you attached to your beliefs, thoughts, and ideas?
What feelings underlie your attachments to your Truth?
How can you create those feelings for yourself without being dependent on external sources?
My hope is that you will make some space to really reflect on these questions and let your Truth rise to the surface. And in that, you will find healing, strength, and power to live your Truth.
