The official name for Human Design Gate 14  is Power Skills but I call it The Prosperity Lumen. It is on the cusp of Scorpio and Sagittarius.

Scorpio is a water sign and is a sign of deep inner transformation, mystery, and erotic power. It’s all about going within and digging deep.

And, Sagittarius is a fire sign. It’s a sign of aspiration, optimism, and new adventures. It’s about aiming for a brighter future.

When a gate is on a cusp, it can bring a lot of contrast and require a delicate balancing act. And the 14 is absolutely that!

In the Human Design chart, Gate 14 is a gate in the Sacral center and it connects to the G via gate 2.

The Energy Spectrum of Human Design Gate 14

The core theme of Human Design Gate 14 is generating resources to empower direction in life.

It is the energy to make money by following your dreams and doing what you love. And it loves to inspire others to do the same.

When Gate 14 is manifesting in your life unconsciously (aka the shadow), it can lead to doing work you hate for the sake of money.

Depending on whether you internalize or externalize the shadow of Gate 14, it can look like getting stuck in the fear that you won’t be able to make your dreams come true or working way too hard at things you don’t like as an attempt to prove your worth.

In the shadow frequency, you may feel powerless, stuck and fearful.

But, as with all shadows, there is always a gift. Our inner work is to bring the shadow into the light of consciousness and embrace the full spectrum of it’s potential.

The gift (aka the conscious side) of Gate 14 is the awareness that life is abundant; there is plenty for everyone. It’s excelling in life when you are doing what you love. It’s the willingness to have wealth and prosperity come from living with integrity and giving from the overflow. It’s realizing that compromising your dreams creates powerlessness.

How to Choose Worthiness of the Gifts of Gate 14

Straight up — As a society, we are living in the shadow of the 14.

Of course, there are exceptions, and I am grateful to be becoming one of them. But, generally speaking, we have tucked our dreams away and are exchanging the precious moments of our lives for money.

And it doesn’t even really matter what the level of income is.

I’ve worked with folx from every income bracket. And while the dollars in the bank might be different, the story is eerily similar:

  • There isn’t a way to make money doing what I love.
  • I have to be responsible. If I did what I love, I’d be broke.
  • I’ll enjoy my life when I retire.

There is this general attitude of work now and play later.

We try to prove ourselves by pushing ourselves, long hours, and soul-sucking work. With each punch of the clock, we collect our “enoughness” gold stars and earn our keep.

We run ourselves into the ground and connect with others by complaining about our jobs and lives.

We are frustrated, bitter, angry, and disappointed. We are anxious, worried, and depressed. We are, slowly but surely, killing ourselves to make a buck.

In order to thrive and create prosperity, we have to start doing the internal work to make the choices that arise from our innate worthiness of it. And that internal work will begin to create a ripple effect. It will flow into your families, your communities, and into the collective consciousness.

But it starts with individuals who are willing to step up, say fuck the system and make changes.

And listen, it doesn’t matter if you have the gate 14 defined in your chart or not.

One of the things I love about the Human Design chart is that it is showing us that we are everything. There is nothing in the chart that you do not have access to.

You are worthy of every gift in the chart. You have everything you need to thrive. It’s just a matter of recognizing it and choosing it.

And, as with all things, it’s about taking an honest look at the shadows that are hiding under the stories of limitation and lack.

For me, personally, one of my biggest shadows was around being seen as lazy.

I never wanted anyone to think that I was lazy or that I wasn’t working hard enough. And I did everything in my power to make sure people thought that I was working my fingers to the bone.

It began to unravel for me when I started my business over a decade ago. I was working for myself, from home, for the first time in my life. Within a matter of weeks, I started to notice a really weird habit-forming.

While my husband was at work, I’d talk to my clients, work on my website, and create enough content for lifetimes.

But no matter how much I got done that day or how many hours I’d actually spent working, I always made sure that my husband would see me working when he got home.

I started to notice that I didn’t want him to think that I hadn’t been working.

When he got home, I’d make a big, dramatic scene about my day of work. I’d let out a big sigh and complain about how tired I was.

And never, did I ever, celebrate where there was ease, joy, and fulfillment.

Eventually, I realized that this shadow of laziness was holding me back. I’d have to let him think whatever he wanted about my work ethic. If I were to have any rest at all, I’d have to let him see me rest. And, in some cases, I’d have to let him see me be truly lazy.

But, even more importantly, I had to own the part of me that doesn’t actually want to work my fingers to the bone. I had to own the part of me that likes to start work late, take long lunches, and cut out early. I had to own the part of me that loves to love her work and to make great money doing it.

Piece by piece. Moment by moment. Shadow by shadow.

I had to start choosing worthiness of true prosperity.

There is still more work to be done, of course. But, I’m here for it. And I invite you to do the same.

Your Personal Contemplation of Human Design Gate 14

When you stand in the Truth that you are worthy of true prosperity

What does prosperity mean to you? What does it look like? What does feel like? What values does it honor?

If money were not in the equation, what would you do with your life?

What do you LOVE doing more than anything else?

What shadows do you need to own in order to allow prosperity in your life?

What choice can you make – TODAY – to start moving you closer and closer to a prosperous future? One that is steeped in satisfaction, success, peace, and delight?

Remember:

Worthiness isn’t something that you can prove or earn. Worthiness is a choice you make.

And every choice matters.
