The Energy Spectrum of Human Design Gate 14
All energy in the Human Design chart exists on a spectrum of potential.
On the “positive” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 14 is the energy for prosperity, dream work, and inspiration. It shows you the path for making money by following your dreams.
On the “negative” spectrum, Human Design Gate 14 is the energy for getting stuck in the fear that you won’t be able to make your dreams come true. This can create a life where you feel stuck doing things you hate for the sake of making money.
If you don’t like the results that the “negative” side of the spectrum is creating in your life, you can raise the frequency of Gate 14 with a number of boundaries, practices, and tools.
(I cover the practices for the gates of your incarnation cross in The Human Design Map.)
But, the most important thing to raise the frequency of gate 14 is to invest time and energy into knowing what your dreams are and taking aligned action towards them.
My personal contemplation of Human Design Gate 14 (Gene Key 14)
Straight up — As a society, we are living in the shadow of the 14.
Of course, there are exceptions, and I am grateful to be becoming one of them. I love the work I do with Human Design and The Human Design Map.
But, generally speaking, we have tucked our dreams away and are exchanging the precious moments of our lives for money.
And it doesn’t even really matter what the level of income is.
I’ve worked with folx from every income bracket. And while the dollars in the bank might be different, the story is eerily similar:
- There isn’t a way to make money doing what I love.
- I have to be responsible. If I did what I love, I’d be broke.
- I’ll enjoy my life when I retire.
There is this general attitude of work now and play later.
We try to prove ourselves by pushing ourselves, long hours, and soul-sucking work. With each punch of the clock, we collect our “enoughness” gold stars and earn our keep.
We run ourselves into the ground and connect with others by complaining about our jobs and lives.
We are frustrated, bitter, angry, and disappointed. We are anxious, worried, and depressed. We are, slowly but surely, killing ourselves to make a buck.
In order to thrive and create prosperity, we have to start doing the internal work to make the choices that are aligned with what we truly want for our lives.
That internal work will begin to create a ripple effect. It will flow into your families, your communities, and into the collective consciousness.
But it starts with individuals who are willing to step up, say fuck the system, and make changes.
And listen, it doesn’t matter if you have gate 14 defined in your chart or not.
One of the things I love about the Human Design chart is that it is showing us that we are everything. There is nothing in the chart that you do not have access to.
You are worthy of every gift in the chart. You have everything you need to thrive. It’s just a matter of recognizing it and choosing it.
And, as with all things, it’s about taking an honest look at the shadows that are hiding under the stories of limitation and lack.
For me, personally, one of my biggest shadows was around being seen as lazy.
I never wanted anyone to think that I was lazy or that I wasn’t working hard enough. And I did everything in my power to make sure people thought that I was working my fingers to the bone.
It began to unravel for me when I started my business over a decade ago. I was working for myself, from home, for the first time in my life. Within a matter of weeks, I started to notice a really weird habit-forming.
While my husband was at work, I’d talk to my clients, work on my website, and create enough content for lifetimes.
But no matter how much I got done that day or how many hours I’d actually spent working, I always made sure that my husband would see me working when he got home.
I started to notice that I didn’t want him to think that I hadn’t been working.
When he got home, I’d make a big, dramatic scene about my day of work. I’d let out a big sigh and complain about how tired I was.
And never, did I ever, celebrate where there was ease, joy, and fulfillment.
Eventually, I realized that this shadow of laziness was holding me back.
I finally understood that if I wanted to prosper, I’d have to let him think whatever he wanted about my work ethic. If I were to have any rest at all, I’d have to let him see me rest. And, in some cases, I’d have to let him see me as being truly lazy.
But, even more importantly, I had to own the part of me that doesn’t actually want to work my fingers to the bone.
I had to own the part of me that likes to start work late, take long lunches, and cut out early.
I had to own the part of me that loves to love her work and to make great money doing it.
I had to own the part of me that wants to focus on the value I create in the world rather than the amount of hours I put in.
Piece by piece. Moment by moment. Shadow by shadow.
I had to start making choices that aligned with prosperity.
There is still more work to be done, of course.
As they say, new level, same devil.
But, I’m here for it. And I invite you to do the same.
Now it’s your turn to contemplate Gate 14
When you stand in the truth that the gifts of gate 14 are available to you, (whether it’s defined in your chart or not)…
What does prosperity mean to you? What does it look like? What does feel like? What values does it honor?
If money were not in the equation, what would you do with your life? What beliefs and shadows are standing in your way of making that your reality?
What do you LOVE doing more than anything else?
What shadows do you need to own in order to allow prosperity in your life?
What choice can you make – TODAY – to start moving closer and closer to a prosperous future? One that is steeped in satisfaction, success, peace, and delight?
I encourage you to take some time with these questions. Take them out into your world and let their answers reveal themselves to you. Intend for deeper levels of clarity about gate 14.
