The Positive and Negative Sides of Human Design Gate 2 All energy in the Human Design chart exists on a spectrum of potential .
On the “positive” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 2 is the energy for receiving the abundance of life. Gate 2 knows that life is a balance of feminine and masculine and that receiving the gifts of life is true abundance.
On the “negative” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 2 is the energy for spending resources (time, money, energy) recklessly. It doubts, worries, and feels anxious about its needs being met and has no faith in their ability to receive abundance.
Start noticing when you are spending recklessly, but don’t be an asshole to yourself. Treat yourself the way you would a small child – with love, curiosity, and understanding.
My Personal Experience with Human Design Gate 2 (Gene Key 2) When I was in the second grade, I wrote a story that was published in the local newspaper. And my teacher was way more excited about it than I was. She kept telling me how proud she was that I’d had something published at such a young age.
Now, of course, we weren’t talking about the New York Times, here. But to the adults around me, it seemed like a big deal and I was completely confused.
Truth be told, I was very uncomfortable with the praise.
The thing is, writing has always come naturally to me. I’d even go so far as to say that it’s easy.
My head , ajna , throat , spleen , and G are all defined. My throat alone has six defined gates (62, 16, 20, 31, 8, and 56), three of which are full channels (16-48, 57-20, and 31-7).
Gate 62 is in the unconscious sun of my incarnation cross —known for communicating complex ideas with clarity and precision.
And I have a Gemini Moon conjunct Jupiter in the second house.
So you might say it was written in the stars for me to be a wordsmith.
But at the time, my ability to write felt… ordinary.
My brain and nervous system didn’t have the capacity to believe that something so easy for me could be worthy of praise. I didn’t have the ability to let it in.
Learning that Gate 2 is undefined in my chart helped that experience click into place.
In Human Design, the undefined places in our chart are where we’re here to grow, to observe with compassion, and eventually to gain deep wisdom. But that wisdom doesn’t arrive overnight. It unfolds through lived experience—and that is exactly what is happening with my capacity to receive.
Looking back, I can see that moment for what it was: a key moment in learning to receive.
In time, I’ve come to recognize that writing is one of my gifts. I have a unique way of thinking, ordering, and playing with words that others appreciate. And it’s teaching me how to receive on so many levels.
Writing isn’t just a thing I do or the way I deliver value. It is a spiritual practice. Where I understand myself, the world around me, and that thing that some call God.
There is a mercurial kind of magick that happens when I put my fingers on the keyboard (or pen to paper!) that often leaves me in awe.
And that is exactly what happened in the early days of creating my signature energy healing method.
Back then, it was called something different. But the essence hasn’t changed at all.
Its structure and flow are based on alchemical magick. It walks you through the seven healing phases that underpin all transformation. It works no matter what you’re trying to change because it gets to the heart of why we ignore our inner wisdom and reveals how to leverage our natural energy in fully aligned ways.
Each phase of the process has an energetic objective that lets you know exactly where you are in the healing arc—and signals when you’re ready to move into the next phase.
The last phase of the alchemical process is what I call “The Promised Land.” And when writing it, I had a realization so simple and clarifying that I could hardly believe what my fingers were typing:
Receiving is feeling. It is allowing your body to fully experience the sensations of fulfillment.
Maybe you call those sensations success, satisfaction, peace, delightful surprise… or even abundance, affirmation, or alignment.
Whatever you call it, though, they are alive in your body and the process is the same:
You locate the sensation in your body. You stay with the feeling. You let it vibrate through you.
No analyzing. No pretending to be humble. No pushing it away with confusion. No minimizing what you’ve created. No writing it off as a fluke.
But instead—opening to it. Softening into it. Letting it enter your being.
Letting yourself become the vibration in real-time.
Letting yourself know, in your bones, what it feels like for your heart to expand.
What it feels like for your aura to hum at that frequency.
What it feels like when joy, reverence, gratitude, abundance, bliss, and pleasure wash through your entire being.
To receive is to surrender to the full spectrum of “positive” emotions that are available to you as a human being.
What a revelation.
Since that moment, I’ve coached hundreds—if not thousands—of people through the practice of receiving. Watching the light bulb go off is always miraculous.
And on a personal level, it has healed so much.
When I bring something to fruition in my life, I now understand that my work—completing the cycle of alchemy—is to be present in my body. To let the feelings of success move through me.
Every time I remember and practice that, my capacity for more success expands. It clears out the “blocks” that prevent me from receiving more love, abundance, and magick.
And writing?
It’s still one of the most natural things in the world for me.
But now, when someone tells me that my words moved them…
When a client says my work changed their life…
When I’m acknowledged for the clarity, precision, or depth I bring…
I can feel it. I can let it in .
I notice when I want to deflect, downplay, or disappear in the moment. And make the conscious choice to breathe it in. To let it move me. To receive it.
It’s as simple and as profound as that.
And what once felt confusing now feels like truth.
The energy of Gate 2 has shown me that receiving isn’t passive—it’s presence.
