My Personal Experience with Human Design Gate 27 (Gene Key 27) Gate 27 is defined in my conscious South Node.
The gates in our nodes tell the two-part story of how our soul grows into the realization of our deeper purpose—the incarnation cross .
At first, our purpose can feel distant—quiet, hidden, or even non-existent. But as we grow through the nodal gates—layer by layer—we begin to see that our purpose is already alive and well. It was simply waiting for us to witness it and receive its bounty.
The gate in the South Node marks the first major growth arc toward embodied purpose. It’s the origin story—the area of development that builds the foundation for the second phase, which begins at the Uranus Opposition.
That’s when we begin shifting into the second major growth arc, led by the North Node. As we grow through that gate, we begin to experience the undying presence of our purpose—how everything that came before was preparing us to truly receive the beauty and wisdom of our soul’s purpose.
My incarnation cross is the Left Angle Cross of the Clarion 2—a path of intuitive clarity (57 ), awakening (51 ), giving voice to truths that cut through illusion (62 ), and mysticism (61 ).
But I didn’t always see that unfolding. I saw myself as too much—too woo-woo, too deep, too intense. I thought I needed to tone it all down just to fit in. And I felt purposeless so much of the time.
As I got older and started leaning into the arc of my Gate 27 South Node, I began to prioritize my own care. I started choosing my well-being over people-pleasing—and everything began to shift.
Before that, my life was spent caught in the karmic tension between caring for others and constantly feeling drained. I put my needs at the very end of the line.
I drowned them in food, alcohol, drugs, and sex with strangers. I knew how to “show up” for other people, but I abandoned myself constantly. And when I got sober and quit binge eating, I had to face how little I actually knew about what I needed.
Taking away the addictions left gaping holes I didn’t know how to fill. It was like a crash course in true and deep self-care.
In the beginning of that journey, I didn’t have astrology or Human Design to help me navigate the path. I relied on surface-level things like Pinterest quotes and cliché Cosmo listicles. And honestly? Some of those things did help.
But the real change began when I was able to take those surface-level tips and alchemize them into real, energetic insight.
That’s where astrology, energy healing, and Human Design came in. They helped me see my needs more clearly—beyond coping mechanisms and toward energetic alignment .
For example, with my 5/2 profile , I realized how important it is for my body to get its alone time. I thrive when my days are open and full of space—space to be in natural rhythm, to follow what feels alive, to rest when I need to. And my mind needs to sort through the mess of conventional wisdom and come up with heretical solutions.
That’s just one of many examples. But at the end of the day, when I treat those things as essential care instead of afterthoughts, I feel more connected to myself, my gifts, and my purpose.
Instead of waking up every day and dreading it, I love serving my clients. My personal relationships feel mutual and grounded. I no longer feel like I have to set myself on fire to keep everyone else warm.
Putting those foundational pieces in place has given me the capacity to lean into the next arc—Gate 28 , my North Node. When I’m well-nourished and cared for, I’m more willing to take risks, explore the dark places, and shape the meaning of my life with purpose.
And in turn, that opens up even more trust in my intuition, radical faith in life, potent words, and spiritual exploration.
More importantly, I can see that purpose unfolding. I don’t need to “find my purpose” or look for it in elusive places. It is alive and well. I can feel it in my bones. And I know it in every cell of my being.
Of course, I’m still learning. I’m still softening. I’m still showing up when it gets hard.
And even though it’s messy sometimes, I know—without a shadow of a doubt—that none of that beauty can unfold if I’m abandoning myself.
Onward and upward.
