The Energy Spectrum of Human Design Gate 32
All energy in the Human Design chart exists on a spectrum of potential.
On the “positive” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 32 is the energy for guiding one’s community into its highest potential. Gate 32 sees the big picture, can sense what needs to change, and is in a healthy relationship with both success and failure. With this perspective, it is able to lead its family, friends, and community into a state of well-being without getting thrown off by the “failures” along the way.
On the “negative” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 32 is the energy for using fear as fuel for unhealthy relationships and community dynamics such as codependency, hierarchy, and pressuring others to conform. It can isolate itself from its family, friends, or community due to a belief that you must go through life alone. Or become immersed in groupthink, cults, or fundamentalist systems that reject the outer or natural world.
If you don’t like the results that the “negative” side of the spectrum is creating in your life, you can raise the frequency of Gate 32 with a number of boundaries, practices, and tools.

The most important thing to raise the frequency of gate 32 is to create a conscious and empowering relationship with both success and failure. And do shadow integration work — especially in areas where you believe that you (and your group) are superior to others. This will help you to navigate successful change.
My personal contemplation of Human Design Gate 32 (Gene Key 32)
Gate 32, which is part of the tribal circuit in Human Design, is undefined for me.
In fact, relative to my individual and collective circuitry, I have very little tribal definition in my chart.
And, after many years of deconditioning, through Human Design and otherwise, I’ve come to understand that I do not have strong needs to be part of a group or community.
In fact, when I was in school, I often found myself “on the edge” of all of the groups and cliques. But I never really experienced myself as being a “part” of them.
Even today, there are many communities that I’m hovering around the edges of but am not really fully immersed in. This is especially true in communities where the “leaders” are put on pedestals and worshipped or where you “have to” believe and value the same things to be accepted.
For a long time, I made that mean that something was wrong with me, that I was unlikable, or that I was a “bad” person.
And I can see the threads of Gate 32 running all through it.
When we were cavepeople, we lived in small, close knit communities, often of only around 100 people.
Everyone played a role in the survival of its community. If you couldn’t play your given role, you were banished and left to die alone.
In other words, success was dependent on the community structure and failure meant imminent death.
This has created a deep lineage of fear around belonging and a world where groupthink is revered.
But, the world is changing; we are moving into a new aeon.
We are headed into a time where true success is dependent on individual empowerment rather than blind adherence.
That, of course, doesn’t mean that groups, families, or communities are dying all together.
But it does mean that the structures that have been held up by dogma, echo chambers, and authoritarian leadership are crumbling.
They are being rebuilt with the well-being of individuals in mind. We are moving into the awareness that a group of empowered individuals is actually stronger than ones made of disempowered people.
When I look at my experience with the group structures in my life, I can see that my definition of success was always rooted in individual empowerment.
And, on some level, I trusted that empowered individuals create empowered communities, and empowered communities create an empowered collective.
I don’t have the energy to fully surrender to groupthink, fundamentalism, or “leader” worship. And, if that means staying on the edges, so be it.
Now it’s your turn to contemplate Gate 32
When you stand in the truth that the gifts of gate 32 are always available to you (whether it’s defined in your chart or not)…
What is your relationship with success? What about failure? How are they working for you?
Do you surrender your own empowerment for others? Why or why not?
What does success look like inside the groups and communities that you are a part of?
I encourage you to take some time with these questions. Take them out into your world and let their answers reveal themselves to you. Intend for deeper levels of clarity about gate 32.
