The official name for Human Design Gate 60 is The Gate of Acceptance. But I call it The Embodied Magician because its primary action is to magically flow through the river of life.

The Energy Spectrum of Human Design Gate 60
All energy in the Human Design chart exists on a spectrum of potential.
On the “positive” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 60 is the energy for flowing through life by using creativity to overcome limitations. Gate 60 breaks the rules and loves to create equitable systems and structures. It thrives when it has the proper boundaries in places for magic, creativity, and transformation to flourish.
On the “negative” end of the spectrum, Human Design Gate 60 is the energy for becoming victimized by laws, rules, boundaries, and natural limits. It has a tendency to act out when boundaries aren’t clear and stay in their comfort zone instead of using their creativity to overcome challenges.
If you don’t like the results that the “negative” side of the spectrum is creating in your life, you can raise the frequency of Gate 60 with a number of boundaries, practices, and tools.
(I cover the practices for the gates of your incarnation cross in the Human Design Map.)
The most important thing to raise the frequency of gate 60 is to discover the containers that your creativity and magic thrive inside of. For example, having certain hours that you create inside of. Play with those containers and see what you like best.
My personal contemplation of Human Design Gate 60 (Gene Key 60)
I do not have gate 60 defined in my chart but it still holds a very special place in my heart.
My very first map customer had gate 60 in their conscious sun.
I can remember very clearly sitting down to study gate 60. I was surrounded by piles of Human Design, Gene Keys, and I Ching books and was taking notes as fast as my hand would go.
By the end, I had tears streaming down my face because I knew how important it was to get this information out to people all the way down in my bones.
A lot of times, information in Human Design is taught in an incredibly disempowering way. There are “analysts” and “readers” out there who literally tell people based on certain gates of their chart that they are evil, or that they are doomed to fail, or other such disempowering bullshit.
Gate 60 is one of the gates in Human Design that gets a bit of a bad rap.
In traditional terms, it’s known as the gate of limitation. And it isn’t that gate 60 doesn’t highlight limits, boundaries, and structures.
Some pretty gnarly shit has gone down when gate 60 has been active in certain outer planets like Saturn, Uranus, Pluto, etc.
And that first client definitely wasn’t “free” from limitations in their life.
All of that is true.
There is a spectrum of potential in every aspect of the chart – and that includes the so-called “bad” gates.
So, when I was studying gate 60, I saw that potential.
I saw magic.
Because here is the thing:
Creativity and magic is actually BORN from limitation.
As they say, necessity is the mother of invention.
In gate 60, I could clearly see that rivers need banks to flow the way they do. It needs those boundaries. It needs limits.
As creative, magical beings, we also need limits and boundaries.
When making art, my most creative flows come when I don’t have the materials, I think I need. I find a way. I make it into something it could have never been if I had the full “materials” list.
The trick is to not use limitations against ourselves. To harness the full potential that is inside of limitation. To embrace it the way a river embraces its banks.
And with that attitude, we truly become limitless.
Now it’s your turn to contemplate Gate 60
When you stand in the truth that the gifts of gate 60 are available to you, whether it’s defined in your chart or not…
What is your relationship with limitations?
What kind of limits enhance your flow?
What have been your most creative or magical moments and what role did limits play in them?
I encourage you to take some time with these questions. Take them out into your world and let their answers reveal themselves to you. Intend for deeper levels of clarity about gate 60.
