In Human Design, it is always important to make sure that the boundaries, tools, and practices that you are putting into place are “correct” based on your specific chart.
For example, a Generator wouldn’t want to operate from the Projector strategy. And an Emotional Authority wouldn’t want to use their spleen as the deciding factor in their decisions.
In the Human Design Map, I cover the “correct” boundaries, tools, and practices for every element of the map (type + strategy, authority, profile, and all gates of the incarnation cross). And, of course, there is some crossover but…
Regarding specific tools, there is only ONE energy healing tool (aka deconditioning tool) that I recommend to everyone.
And it’s called “Pure Aura Time,” and I’ll tell you how to do it in just a moment.

But first, let’s talk about WHY it’s the one energy healing tool I recommend to everyone.
One of the most common problems people share with me is believing that they don’t know who they are and what they are “meant” to be doing with their lives.
And, of course, your Human Design is an excellent doorway into exploring exactly that.
But, in the bigger picture, when you are always with other people, constantly taking in outside information, or just plain not spending enough time alone, it can be near impossible to discern what (energetically) belongs to you and what doesn’t.
When we take on energy that isn’t ours, it creates all sorts of energy balance issues in the mind, body, spirit, and emotions.
In Human Design speak, this is called “conditioning” and is a major contributor to the “not-self themes.”
Pure Aura Time offers you the contrast necessary to see where you have been taking on shit that isn’t yours.
And when you are living from your conditioning, you will not be receiving your Divine Gifts the way you could be.
When you are in your pure aura, the “stuff” that doesn’t belong to us automatically begins to lift out.
You don’t need to force it out or do any woo-woo practices if you don’t want to. (I’m all about the woo but because it’s fun — not because it has some mystical power that I “need.”)
And with enough Pure Aura Time, it will provide a sharp contrast once you go back into the aura of others.
For example, I thought of myself as a “very emotional” person. I seemed to always be on some sort of emotional roller coaster and seemingly had no capacity for accessing the wisdom of my emotions.
In my really close relationships, I’d think I was a hot mess and the cause of other people’s emotions.
But, the Truth was that I just had really shitty boundaries in my undefined solar plexus and I was amplifying the emotional wave energy of those with defined solar plexus’ (which is about 50% of the population).
By spending adequate time in my own pure aura, I started to notice that when I am completely alone, in my own pure aura, I wasn’t on an emotional roller coaster. In fact, I was usually cool, calm, and collected unless something “external” was happening.
And, what was most interesting was that, after a while of consistent practice, I started to automatically have discernment about other people’s emotions. The contrast of being alone vs being with others was so sharp that I couldn’t help but see the difference!
And with that discernment, I could keep their feelings separate from mine. I could let them have their feelings without taking them on in any way. I stopped amplifying their emotions and started being cool, calm, and collected even when people are having intense feelings all around me.
That kind of discernment is MAGIC. And it applies to every center in the Human Design Chart.
The more undefined and open centers you have, the more you need to spend time if you own aura.
But, even if you are one of the rare birds with all nine centers defined, I still recommend pure aura time because you have open channels and gates. And those need to “decondition” too.
What is Pure Aura Time?
As you may have gathered by now, Pure Aura Time is when you are 100% alone (pets are usually OK). But there is a catch…
Pure Aura Time also means not filling that alone time with:
- Music (instrumental can sometimes be OK)
- Podcasts/Audiobooks
- Books/Articles/Website
- Classes or Studying for Classes (including personal growth classes!)
- News, Television, Movies, or Videos
- Social Media or scrolling
- Working for Money
In other words, your pure aura is any time and space when you are NOT taking in energetic information from outside sources.
Now, the most common question I get about this is:
But, what am I supposed to DO in Pure Aura Time?
Legit, you don’t need to do anything in Pure Aura Time.
You can sit and stare at the walls if you want. Sitting and watching the birds and squirrels is a daily Pure Aura Time practice for me.
But, you don’t need to be precious about Pure Aura Time — you just need to do it.
When I started my Pure Aura Time, I would just turn off the radio while driving alone.
But I don’t get any alone time!?!?!
For most people, Pure Aura Time, is much easier than you may think. In fact, you likely already have ample opportunity for Pure Aura Time but you are filling with information.
You can get Pure Aura Time when you are doing any of the following alone:
- housework & chores
- driving
- hiking, biking, walking, yoga, or some other activity without music or guidance.
- making art (though this is not recommended if you are doing it to make money)
- showering or bathing
- cooking
- meditation (with no music or guidance)
- journaling
- sleeping
- mastrubating (assuming no porn is involved)
Just turn off the music and TV, put away the books, and be silent.
How much time is this going to take?
Pure Aura Time doesn’t have to be super long periods of time. But I am fully aware that time is relative.
As a baseline, I recommend at least fifteen minutes per day, per undefined energy center.
But, you can work your way up. If all you have is three minutes, do three minutes. For real. Just do the best you can.
Now, before I wrap this up, I also want to mention something that can be quite unexpected and what to do if/when it happens.
At first, Pure Aura Time may be uncomfortable mentally or emotionally speaking. Nothing has gone wrong. When the energy that does not belong to energy starts to lift, any emotions that were being buffered by outside energy will show up.
It is important to feel your feelings and start to notice the wisdom inside of them.
